About the job
Automotive Dealership Comptroller / Title & Accounting Specialist
About the Opportunity
Blue Ridge Talent is partnering with a growing automotive dealership group to hire an experienced Automotive Dealership Comptroller / Title & Accounting Specialist.
This is not a traditional general accounting role. We are looking for someone who understands the financial and administrative flow of an automotive dealership, including deal processing, title work, lender funding, vendor reconciliation, bookkeeping, commissions, and compliance.
The right person will be comfortable stepping into an active environment, improving processes, and working independently without extensive hands-on training.
This is a full-time position with potential for some hybrid flexibility once the successful candidate is fully up to speed.
What You'll Do
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reconciliations.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, vendor invoices, and vehicle-related expenses.
- Review completed vehicle deals for accuracy, including down payments, trade payoffs, repair expenses, and supporting documentation.
- Review deal jackets and ensure required title, DMV, lender, insurance, payoff, and funding documentation is complete.
- Help resolve missing stipulations and documentation that delay lender funding.
- Process warranty, GAP, and chargeback refunds to customers and lenders and maintain monthly reporting.
- Track dealership profitability and support accurate commission reporting and payroll calculations.
- Improve processes for outside vendors performing detailing, paint, body work, mechanical repairs, windshields, wheel repair, and similar services.
- Create and maintain consistent daily closeout procedures across dealership locations.
- Support payroll deductions, employee benefits administration, workers' compensation audits, and future retirement plan administration.
- Help ensure dealership accounting and administrative processes remain compliant with applicable state and federal requirements.
- Identify gaps in current processes and build more efficient, reliable systems.
The Ideal Candidate Would Have:
- Previous automotive dealership accounting, title, office management, comptroller, or related experience strongly preferred.
- Understanding of automotive dealership deal flow, funding, title processing, and vehicle-related accounting.
- Experience with bookkeeping, AP/AR, reconciliations, commissions, and financial reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing responsibilities, and improve existing processes.
- Strong organization, communication, and follow-through.
- Accounting technology knowledge, ideally, QuickBooks, Wayne Reaves dealership management software, and/or ShopmonKey
